Bio, Awards & Expos

Jordi Pizarro (Barcelona, 1985).

Self-taught in my career as a documentary photographer. I started working as a freelance photographer for different Spanish newspapers and in 2010 I was contracted as a staff photographer for the Catalan newspaper ARA, after two years I quit and I started to work on my own personal projects. In 2013 I joined the Italian Agency Contrastro and I moved to live in New Delhi. During the next years, I was working across India with assignments for different international magazines.

Actually, I'm mostly interested in my personal and long-term projects. The emphasis of my work is largely focused on current social and environmental concerns that affect different communities around the world, most of them unadvertised by the big media. My main goal is to aid and increase awareness of issues affecting people and their environments in the world we live in. I hope that my photographs contribute in some small way towards creating a critical reflection of this world.
